BACKGROUND:

Access Center for Human Rights (ACHR) works towards guaranteeing the right to human dignity for refugees and the arbitrarily detainees in several countries, starting in Lebanon. ACHR also aspires to expand their work to refugees in other countries. building on the principle of personal security, dignified living and shelter, and the freedom of mobility.

It also prioritizes the promotion of equity in a dignified work and the freedom of thought and expression, through providing legal support and representation to defend refugees causes. Monitoring and documenting violations, as well as mobilizing local and international public opinion around those violations. refer these violations legally to the international legal entities to build a culture of protection and value towards the rights of refugees and guarantee their freedom in pursuing their needs.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

The Project Officer would be recruited to work, on a fulltime basis for with all staff on the Lebanon program.

Project Officer responsibilities include preparing comprehensive action plans, including resources, timeframes, and budgets for projects. S/he will perform various coordinating tasks, including schedule and risk management, along with administrative duties such as maintaining project documentation.

S/he will directly report to ACHR’s Program Manager and working under the overall supervision of the Executive Director. S/he is actively involved in the development and implementation of the project.

Scope of Work:                                                                                            

  1. Monitor the implementation and progress of projects according to approved objectives, plan of action and budget, and record progress through progress reports on the proceedings of the project in adherence with donor requirements; prepare a schedule for completion of the project in a systemic manner; ensure adherence to deadlines;
  2. Keep track of all stages of projects by documenting and recording outcomes; identify challenges and suggest changes when needed;
  3. Internal coordination with project staff members and use performance management to ensure high quality output and performance of staffs;
  4. Organize activities relevant to the project such as virtual events, panel discussions, and workshops;
  5. Ensure the quality of outputs and results with optimal monitoring mechanisms; establish effective coordination, monitoring, information sharing and reporting systems.
  6. Represent ACHR, when required, before media outlets, national and international organizations, as well as national and international governmental bodies or representatives.
  7. Channel urgent referrals received from field team to relevant local partners for field intervention;
  8. Any other tasks deemed necessary to achieve the project objectives according to the request of ACHR.
  9. Participate in transparent and competitive selection, recruitment, supervision and mentoring of respective staff.
  10. Manage monthly internal progress reports from all staff members and organize them to be submitted to the Supervising Manager on monthly basis.

    DELIVERABLES

The deliverables of the scope of work mentioned above includes, but is not limited to, the following items:

  • Reviews of all project outputs and materials
  • Smooth coordination of project and project staff
  • Monthly reports
  • Periodic action plans and evaluation of team members
  • Regular updated action plan

    DESIRABLES:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree, International Development studies, Political Sciences, Economics, Law, Non-profit management or related studies; the degree may not be required if applicant has demonstrated that he/she has extensive experience in research and coordination.
  • Demonstrated depth of experience and effectiveness preferably in an NGO research context in working with community/grassroots people and organizations.
  • Fluency in English and in Arabic is essential.

Soft Skills:

  • Experience in report writing, monitoring and evaluation of projects.
  • Proven ability to collaborate well and to deliver work in a timely manner.
  • Proven skills in coordination and leadership.
  • Excellent research writing and editing skills.
  • Strong organizational and programmatic skills
  • Able to take initiative and work well independently and as part of a team
  • Remote management skills.
  • Coordination skills, problem solving, and flexibility in dealing with the team

Technical Skills:

  • Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Comfort with using email/Zoom/ MS Teams and instant messaging as a primary means of communication

Working conditions:

  • The possibility of working outside office hours “important”
  • The possibility of frequent travel outside Lebanon.

Evaluation criteria:

  • Proficiency in coordinating the project and team activity implementation.
  • The ability to develop and adhere to an action plan.
  • Periodic reports that are submitted to the supervising manager.
